After celebrating the Art Deco movement in the first edition and then Pop Art in 2022, Didier Guillon turned to the Bauhaus movement for inspiration to design the rare 2023 edition. Seen today as one of history’s most influential art, architecture and design movements, Bauhaus was founded in Weimar, Germany in 1919 by Walter Gropius with the aim of uniting and popularizing all the arts. By abolishing hierarchies between disciplines as rich and varied as architecture, painting and sculpture, as well as functional and graphic design, Bauhaus set off an artistic and architectural revolution. Its pure, simple aesthetic appeal displays pronounced minimalism to highlight objects’ essential and functional facets. The movement champions simple materials (metal, steel, glass, etc.), clean, sober lines, pure, unadorned geometric shapes and bold primary colors.  

More than a movement, Bauhaus is a school, an abiding spirit that has forged its path through the decades and inspired top names. From Marcel Breuer to Paul Klee, from Wassily Kandinsky to Piet Mondrian, the greatest artists and craftsman of the modern world can be found in the Who’s Who of Bauhaus.
